Southern Africa, South Africa
TRIP TYPE: CURATED BY NICOLE & COLTON AND KITO AFRIKA
DEPARTURE: 15TH OCTOBER 2024
PREVIEW THE ITINERARY
Day 1: A meet and greet awaits you in Johannesburg. You will be dropped to your accommodation.
Day 2: Your african safari vacation will begin with an experience of a city within a city! Our half-day Soweto tour is an opportunity to experience the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city and learn more about events that shaped South Africa’s past. We make our way down the vibrant Vilakazi Street, past iconic monuments and the homes of Nelson and Winnie Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Time permitting, you have the option of stopping at Nelson Mandela Museum for a visit. The morning ends at the massive Soweto Towers, you can watch people or join in bungee jumping off the towers (own cost and time permitting). In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to try out the amazing optional activities that are available in Johannesburg like walking with lions at Ukutula Game Reserve or learning about the diverse culture of the South African people on a tour to Lesedi.
Day 3: A south africa safari would not be complete without a kruger safari thus you will travel through the Highveld and Lowveld of Mpumalanga to arrive at Dumela Tented Camp around 14:00. You will have time to refresh before the real adventure starts with an afternoon sunset game drive in an open safari vehicle through the Greater Kruger Blue Canyon Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for the Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes – as well as other amazing wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and hippos. Enjoy sundowners in the bush, then return to the camp to gather around the boma fire for dinner and stories about the day’s adventures.
Day 4: Your day may proceed in one of two ways: an early departure for Kruger National Park with a bush breakfast along the route and an earlier return, or having breakfast at the lodge first, departing and returning later. The exact departure times will be communicated to you the night before as it will be decided according to animal activity at the time to give you the best opportunity for game viewing. Your safari in Kruger will last about 7 to 8 hours, during which you will venture deep into the Orpen-Satara area, where your chances of seeing lions are better than anywhere else in the park. You will return to the camp with ample time to unwind and get ready for a starlit dinner around the fire.
Day 5: After breakfast, it is time for good-byes and head out to Johannesburg and later on take the evening flight to Cape town. You will also have the option to go on one last morning safari before you leave at an extra cost.
Day 6: You will have most of this day to yourself, to relax in Cape town or you can select one of the optional activities available in Cape town and make the most out of South Africa.
Day 7: On this day you will enjoy a tour of the Cape Peninsular, visiting the Boulders Beach where you get to see African penguins, and later on discover the splendid wonders of this iconic wine region, learn more about the history of the town. Stellenbosch Wine Route is one of the most famous tourist attractions in South Africa. The heritage town is known for its striking beauty, majestic mountains, iconic buildings and vast rolling vineyards. In the evening you will experience the Gold dinner with drumming where you will get to taste 14 different South African cuisines.
Day 8: You will have this day to explore more of Cape town, try out the optional activities and later on take the evening flight back to Johannesburg.
Day 9: We’ll part ways on this day. You will be assisted with transport to the airport. So long and safe travels!
